Electrical Insulation Protection

Tape plays an indispensable role in the field of electrical insulation, providing absolute protection. PVC tape exhibits a high dielectric strength, enabling it to withstand high voltages. Its excellent elongation and flexibility allow it to conform tightly to irregular surfaces or be used for bundling and wrapping wire harnesses. Additionally, it is low-cost. It is commonly used for terminal insulation and phase-color identification in low-voltage wires and cables in settings such as households and office buildings.

PTFE tape holds a unique and irreplaceable position in specific and high-end insulation applications. Its monomer is tetrafluoroethylene. Fluorine, possessing the strongest electronegativity in the periodic table, results in carbon-fluorine bonds with very high bond energy and stability. This gives PTFE tape extremely high stability, very strong resistance to chemical reagents, and excellent temperature resistance. Its highly symmetrical molecular structure leads to very low polarity and surface energy, providing good hydrophobic and oleophobic properties. The low polarity also results in a low dielectric constant, leading to low electrical energy loss. Due to these comprehensive properties, PTFE tape is suitable for high-frequency electronics and communication fields. While providing insulation protection, PTFE significantly reduces signal attenuation and distortion.

Compared to PVC tape, PET tape similarly has a high dielectric strength, resulting in a high breakdown voltage. Its heat resistance is superior to that of PVC tape. PVC tape contains plasticizers, which can migrate or volatilize under continuous high temperatures, leading to performance degradation. PET tape demonstrates significantly better temperature resistance and lower heat shrinkage than PVC tape. It has a wider range of applications and can be used for electrical insulation in new energy battery packs, inter-layer insulation of coils in motors, and slot insulation. PI tape is an enhanced version of PET tape, offering broader applicability and superior performance. However, due to its considerably higher cost, it is primarily used in specific high-demand fields.
